Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field is required.
  • Two years of directly related work experience is required.
  • Other combinations of education or experience may be substituted.
  • Job-related experience may include program development and planning, research, grant administration, program management, or another appropriate field involving administrative experience.
  • The position requires technical and interpersonal skills to analyze complex statistical and narrative information, recognize emerging issues and anticipate their impacts on state and local justice systems, communicate orally and in writing to diverse groups, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with grantees, social service agencies, local law enforcement, county attorneys, and the general public.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.
  • Employment eligibility is verified through the federal E-Verify process.
Responsibilities
  • Provide program oversight, technical assistance, and monitoring of subgrants and program evaluation for federal and state grants.
  • Travel across Montana to visit subgrantee programs.
  • Attend annual out-of-state federally required training and conferences as needed.
  • Perform grant management tasks with the Grant Program Team.
  • Apply for federal grants on behalf of the Montana Board of Crime Control.
  • Request grant changes and extensions.
  • Review subgrantee applications.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for each assigned grant.
  • Work closely with the Fiscal Services Section to ensure compliance with grant financial requirements.

  • Grant management experience.
  • Grant writing experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of program development and design techniques, strategic planning, and new program implementation.
  • Communication skills and customer service experience, including conveying technical information.
  • Knowledge of analyzing and applying standardized definitions and rules from a federal agency using federal, state, and agency regulations and policies.
  • Knowledge of training techniques, information dissemination, public speaking, and presentations.
  • Considerable knowledge of data collection and analysis.
